How to judge whether the handheld shower water filter needs to be replaced

1. Observe the water flow
The water flow becomes smaller: This is the most intuitive basis for judgment. As the filter element is used for a longer time, a large amount of impurities will accumulate inside it. These impurities gradually fill the pores of the filter element, making the channel through which the water flows narrower, causing the water flow rate to slow down. If you find that the water flow during shower is significantly smaller than when the water filter was just installed, you may need to replace the filter element.
Uneven distribution of water flow: If you find that the water flow sprayed from the shower head is unevenly distributed, such as strong water flow in some places and weak water flow in other places, it may also be that the filter element is partially blocked, affecting the normal distribution of water flow. This is because the blocked part will change the flow path of water inside the water filter, resulting in uneven water flow from the nozzle.

2. Check for changes in water quality
Odor appears: If the shower water begins to have an odor, such as chlorine or other strange smells, it is likely that the chemical adsorption function of the filter element has failed.
Visible impurities increase: When you see obvious impurities in the filtered water, such as fine sand particles, black activated carbon powder, etc., it means that the physical filtering function of the filter element has declined. This may be because the outer layer of the physical filter material of the filter element, such as PP cotton, has been damaged or the pores are too large to effectively intercept impurities.

3. Reference usage time and frequency
Usage time: Even if you do not observe the above-mentioned obvious changes in water flow and water quality, you should refer to the recommended usage time of the filter element to replace the filter element. The service life of water filter elements of different brands and models is different. Generally speaking, PP cotton filter elements may need to be replaced every 3-6 months, and activated carbon filter elements may need to be replaced in about 2-4 months, depending on the frequency of use and water quality.
Usage frequency: If you use the shower frequently, such as multiple times a day, or there are many family members, the usage time and frequency will accelerate the loss of the filter element. In this case, the filter element may need to be replaced more frequently to ensure a good filtering effect.
