The CTO activated carbon block filter cartridge is made from high-quality carbon in a "block" construction. The structural design provides a high chemical absorption rate. The carbon block filter cartridge raw materials are blended prior to molding or extrusion. Thorough blending is important to make sure a homogeneous mixture is introduced into the extrusion process.
Extrusion is a continuous forming method that makes use of mixtures. The material is transported by a screw-type auger and heated either in the screw itself or in an external die. The material is cooled in a die after being heated and formed into a continuous cylinder, which is how it leaves the process. The lengthened result is then packaged or put together into filter cartridges after being extruded.
